First and foremost, we thank God for making this possible.
Today marks one of the most historic days in the nearly 70-year history of the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto.
With immense gratitude to God, we are pleased to announce that we have officially completed the purchase of our new Albanian Mosque & Cultural Centre, located at:
124-126 Queens Plate Drive
Toronto, ON M9W 0B4
Officially established in 1957, our organization has now entered a new chapter just before celebrating its 70th anniversary. This has been a dream shared by generations of Albanian Muslims who came before us. Many prayed for this day, worked tirelessly toward it, donated generously, volunteered countless hours, and never lost hope that one day our community would have a larger home for future generations.
Today, by the mercy of God, that dream has become a reality.
We extend our deepest gratitude to every member of our community who has supported our organization over the decades. Whether you donated, volunteered, attended events, promoted our initiatives, encouraged others to participate, or simply remained committed to our community through the years, this achievement belongs to all of us.
A heartfelt thank you goes to every individual and family who made financial contributions toward this purchase. Every donation, regardless of its size, played an important role in helping us reach this historic milestone.
We also wish to recognize and sincerely thank all of the committee members, volunteers, and supporters who have dedicated countless hours over the past several years to fundraising events, planning meetings, community outreach, and the many behind-the-scenes efforts that carried the momentum of this project forward. Your dedication has helped shape the future of our community.
A very special thank you goes to those members of our community who stepped forward to provide interest-free loans. Your trust, generosity, and willingness to help us complete this purchase in a manner consistent with the principles of our faith will never be forgotten. May God reward you and your families abundantly.
This achievement is far greater than the purchase of a building.
This is the new foundation for preserving our religion, our Albanian identity, our language, and our culture for generations to come.
This is where our children and grandchildren will learn about their faith, build lifelong friendships, celebrate milestones together, strengthen their connection to their Albanian heritage, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
This will be a place for prayers, education, celebrations, community gatherings, youth activities, cultural programs, charitable initiatives, and even the simple conversations over coffee that strengthen friendships and bring people together. We hope this will become a true home for every Albanian Muslim family in the Greater Toronto Area.
While today is a day to celebrate, it is also the beginning of a new responsibility.
We have established a Contractor Management Committee that will oversee the planning, design, and renovation of our new property to ensure it is thoughtfully designed and prepared to best serve the needs of our growing community. Over the coming months, we will continue to provide regular updates as work progresses.
During this transition, all daily prayers, Friday prayers, and regular programming will continue at our current mosque located at 564 Annette Street until the new facility is fully prepared. Our goal is to officially open our new Albanian Mosque & Cultural Centre by the beginning of Ramadan 2027, God willing.
Although we have reached an incredible milestone, the real work now begins.
A larger home brings greater opportunities, but it also brings greater responsibility. We encourage every member of our community to become involved in whatever capacity they can. Whether through volunteering, serving on committees, promoting our organization, supporting future fundraising efforts, or simply encouraging your family and friends to participate, every contribution matters.
We also encourage you to involve your spouses and children so that this new centre truly becomes the heart of our community for generations to come.
We have ambitious plans for the future, including accredited Albanian language classes, traditional Albanian dance classes, youth camps, educational programming, community events, and many other initiatives that will strengthen both our faith and our identity. Achieving these goals will require greater engagement, greater volunteerism, and a continued commitment from all of us.
Today belongs to every Albanian Muslim who has called this community home over the past seven decades.
May God bless everyone who contributed to this historic achievement, accept every donation, every hour of volunteer work, every act of kindness, and every sincere intention. May He reward each and every one of you abundantly, both in this life and in the Hereafter.
We firmly believe that every sacrifice made, every dollar donated, every hour volunteered, every interest-free loan provided, and every sincere effort invested in this project carries a reward far greater than any of us can truly comprehend. May God accept it from all of us and make this new Albanian Mosque & Cultural Centre a lasting source of reward for everyone who helped make it possible.
