On Wednesday, March 4, three members of the Board of Directors of the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto, Dardan Emini, Florind Metalla, and Mentor Berbatovci, attended an iftar dinner at Queen’s Park in Toronto. The event took place at the Main Legislative Building and was hosted by the Leader of Ontario’s Official Opposition and the Ontario New Democratic Party, Marit Stiles.
The evening brought together community leaders, public officials, and members of Ontario’s Muslim community during the month of Ramadan.
During the program, attendees viewed a presentation highlighting the history of the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto and the opening of its mosque. The presentation recognized the organization as the first Muslim organization established in Ontario. The presentation formed part of a short film initiative produced by Muslim Video Hub through their Short Film Lab program.

The recognition of the organization’s historic role within the province marked a proud moment for its members. For decades, the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto has served as a place of worship, community gathering, and cultural preservation for Albanian Muslims and the wider Muslim community.
The Board of Directors expressed appreciation to the organizers of the event and to those who continue to document and share the history of Muslim communities in Ontario. The evening highlighted the importance of community engagement, cultural heritage, and continued collaboration between community organizations and public institutions.
