On Sunday, June 15, 2025, the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto held its Second Extraordinary General Meeting at Mississauga Valley Park – Picnic Areas C & D, where voting took place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

This meeting followed the first vote held on June 1 and was conducted in accordance with our society’s statute, which requires a second vote on critical matters.

We are pleased to report that 179 verified members participated, marking an extraordinary turnout and continued engagement in the future of our mosque and community.

Official Voting Results:

  • Question #1 – Purchase of the new property at 1 City View Drive, Etobicoke, ON M9W 5A5:
    Yes – 179
  • Question #2 – Sale of the current mosque at 564 Annette Street, Toronto, ON M6S 2C2:
    Yes – 178
    No – 1

These results reflect overwhelming support for both the purchase of a new facility and the sale of our current mosque — a clear and unified message from our members.

What This Means

With both votes now completed, and both motions receiving overwhelming support, the Board will proceed with the next steps to secure the new property and manage the transition from 564 Annette Street. The sale of the current mosque will only proceed once the new property is successfully acquired, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted continuation of services for our community.

📘 Statutory Note – Article 16(1)

In accordance with Article 16(1) of the Statute of the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto:

Translation (summary in English):
The first meeting requires over 51% member participation to be valid. If that quorum is not met, a second meeting is held at a later date and does not require the same quorum. In that second meeting, decisions are valid based on the majority of votes from those present.

Therefore, the vote held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, is considered final and binding under the society’s governing statute, even if fewer than 51% of members were in attendance.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all members who voted, attended, and continue to contribute to the future of our congregation.

— The Board of the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto and The Imam
