We are proud to share a significant moment for our community: Imam Adnan ef. Berbatovci, representing the Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto, was formally honored at the traditional Takimi me Mërgatën (Meeting with the Diaspora) held at the Alaudin Madrassa in Pristina, Kosovo.
This important gathering took place under the patronage of the Mufti of the Republic of Kosovo, z. Naim ef. Tërnava, and was organized by the Directorate of Diaspora of the Islamic Community of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Mr. Ekrem ef. Simnica. It brought together Imams and representatives of Islamic Centers from across Europe, North America, and the wider Western diaspora.
The goal of this annual event is to foster dialogue, strengthen relationships, and build cooperation between the Islamic Community in Kosovo and the many mosques and centers serving Albanian Muslim communities abroad. With growing Muslim populations across the diaspora, such gatherings are a vital opportunity to align our efforts, exchange ideas, and preserve our religious and cultural identity.
At this year’s meeting, our very own Imam, Adnan ef. Berbatovci, was formally recognized and honored by the organizers — a moment of great pride for our congregation and the broader community in Toronto. The recognition reflects his years of tireless service, leadership, and dedication to guiding our jamaat with integrity and wisdom.
In addition to the formal discussions and panels, the organizers continued the cherished Albanian tradition of hospitality — offering thoughtful gifts to the Imams and a communal lunch that brought everyone together in a spirit of warmth and brotherhood.
As a community, we are deeply grateful for this honor bestowed upon our Imam and for the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful gathering. We pray that Allah (xh.sh.) blesses this initiative, strengthens the bonds between Kosovo and its diaspora, and rewards the organizers with the best of both worlds.

In Gratitude,
Albanian Muslim Society of Toronto and The Imam
